Fortunately the stars aligned and we are able to host Boréal Tordu in Millbrook this Saturday!

This may be the most unique group we'll have this summer. They are traveling from Maine for this concert. We're positive that you'll enjoy it.

A brief description from their website: Boréal Tordu began when fiddler Steve Muise and singer Robert Sylvain discovered a mutual interest in the music of their shared Acadian heritage. While signs of their parents' French culture can still be found in Maine, it was almost lost to their generation, after years of forced assimilation. More than a revival, their music represents a continuation of musical traditions passed down from the Acadians, the Québécois, and the unique French-speaking people of the the Republic of Madawaska and milltowns all over New England.

Reviews:
"...this bringing to life of traditional Canadian, American and French music is altogether new, made particularly appealing by the love of what they are doing and the contagious beat of the music." Esther Perne - Summertime in the Belgrades

"Friendly reminder from Boréal Tordu: Cajun wasn't born on the Bayou." Portland Press Herald

"...a fun brand of rootsy acoustic music that’s accessible... and features some top-notch musicality and singing." The Portland Phoenix

"The simplistic music, coupled with excellent vocals earns “La Bonne Vie” four-peppers."
Zydeco Road

Saturday July 3rd: The Big Band Sound Jazz Orchestra

David Cole is bringing the Big Band Sound back to Millbrook for another holiday weekend concert. In the tradition of these great orchestras, The Big Band Sound is a 20-piece jazz band consisting of six saxophones, four trombones, four trumpets, guitar, bass, piano, drums, and male and female vocalists."

Big Band Sound Face book site

Big Band sound Website

2010 Season Line up

Here it is, full line up... 7 concerts in all. Michael Sassano (mandolin) is from Mahopac.

"Joan's clear and compelling voice brings new interpretations to standards from Patsy Cline to Bill Monroe, and creates new vocal stylings for Too Blue's original songs. Betsy's award-winning guitar playing has been featured in "Flatpicking Guitar" magazine, and she is one of very few female performers in this demanding bluegrass style of "flatpicking". Jamie is the newest addition to the Too Blue crew. (Jamie) attended the Jazz and Contemporary Music program at the New School University in New York City. (Michael) has been playing the mandolin for over 25 years and has been greatly influenced by his first teacher, the renowned Jay Ungar, as well as Andy Statman. A founding member of the eclectic string band 'Out To Lunch', Michael has been performing throughout the Northeast and Canada for the last 2 decades."

Bios and clips are available at: http://www.toobluemusic.com/

Friday April 30th: A Mid-Summer's Night's Dream

Friday April 30th, MAG is pleased to host the the Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival for a second year. Cause we want to see SHADOW CREEK this saturday night. SHADOW CREEK is a four piece Country and Classic Rock Dance Band featuring Jim McDermott (Lead Guitar), Bruce Carlson (Pedal Steel Guitar), Alan Rapp (Drums) and Greg Chasse (Bass Guitar). Charlie Staxx, keyboard player from the Phantoms, will be sitting in on Saturday's concert.

The fun and energy of this band is very contagious. Last year's concert was a perfect Millbrook evening; fantastic weather, a beautiful moon and great music. Let's all pray for good weather! http://www.vickierussell.com/

Vickie Russell, touring singer/songwriter based in New Paltz, NY, performs her stunningly original heartfelt songs on keyboard and guitar. With influences from Bach and Chopin to Carol King, Elton John and Sting, Russell will pull you into her world of love, laughter and hope. This award winning versatile artist keeps audiences enthralled whether she's taking things slow on painfully honest pop ballads such as Walk Away and Welcome Home, wailing the blues on Manville, or sharing a funny true life story through a country tune like Next.

"Concertgoers have enjoyed her as a main act as well as when opening for names like the 10,000 Maniacs, Donovan, Rick Danko, Leon Russell, Richie Havens, Tuck and Patti, Cris Williamson, Full Frontal Folk, David Wilcox, Jeffrey Gaines, Peter Mayer, Groovelily, John Flynn, Chris Smither, Cheryl Wheeler, Lesley Gore and Jill Sobule. Playing throughout the USA, Europe, Japan and in her native New York hotspots, Vickie Russell is winning the hearts of audiences around the world."

Sat Aug 1st: Dr. Peter Muir and Steve Fabrizio

Come see Millbrook's own Dr. Peter Muir and Steve Fabrizio; “A Hundred Years of Broadway”. Concert is on! ... as of Thursday... hopefully the weather will cooperate.

British pianist Peter Muir plays ragtime, blues and early jazz in a totally original and compelling style.

Steve Fabrizio is a smooth new artist on the music scene. He has a fresh sound that is reflective of a time gone by. As a singer his powerful voice has you visualizing him on a broadway stage. At the same time he takes you back to the night clubs of the 40's where the great saloon singers performed.
